How do I get started?
Fill out the contact form or call us at 323-559-7178 to schedule your complimentary in-home consultation. We’ll discuss your goals and send an initial estimate following your consultation. Once approved, we begin the design phase followed by production and installation.
How long does a custom cabinetry project take?
Timelines vary by project scope and complexity, but most projects follow this general flow:
Design and approvals: 1–3 weeks
Fabrication: 2-6 weeks
Installation: Install can vary greatly, but is typically 2-7 days
We’ll provide a timeline tailored to your project after finalizing the design.
What materials do you use?
The details matter to us, so we believe in using the highest quality materials possible for all projects. From dovetail joinery to 2K polyurethane, we source the best materials for superior durability and performance. Please see our Materials & Craftsmanship Guide in the Resources section for more information.
Are door/drawer pulls and/or knobs included in the cabinetry pricing?
Due to the wide range of styles and finishes available, door/drawer pulls and/or knobs (finishing hardware) are not included in our cabinetry pricing. Clients are responsible for selecting and providing their own finishing hardware. Once you’ve selected and purchased your finishing hardware, we’re happy to install it during the final phase of your cabinetry installation. If you have any questions about compatibility or quantities, we’re glad to assist prior to your order.
Can I see samples of finishes or materials?
Absolutely. During your consultation or design phase, we’ll provide material samples and finish options so you can see and feel what will be used in your space.
What if I need changes after the design is finalized?
Changes are permitted until the material is cut to avoid additional expense. Changes can be made through a formal Change Order request. Adjustments to design, materials, or layout may affect cost and timeline.
Will there be variation in wood grain or color?
Painted cabinets will be completely uniform. However, stained cabinets will have variation in wood grain or color. That’s part of the charm of real wood. Natural variations in grain, tone, and texture are normal. While we aim for consistency, no two pieces are exactly alike with a stained finish.
Are soft-close drawers worth it?
Yes! All doors and drawers are soft-close at SL Woodwork using BLUMOTION technology. The hinges and slides allow doors and drawers to close smoothly and silently, preventing slamming.
How should I prepare for a cabinetry installation?
Clients can best prepare their spaces by emptying cabinets and clearing an entry path into the space. Any fragile or important items should be safely stowed away in another area.
What’s the biggest mistake homeowners make when planning cabinetry?
Underestimating the cost and value of custom cabinetry. SL Woodwork uses the best industry standard materials possible, so if you're pricing out something at home depot versus a custom cabinet maker you should expect a price difference.
Can I get custom cabinets without a full kitchen remodel?
Yes, you can reface your existing cabinetry and add an island to improve your layout/function.
Do you work with subcontractors?
Yes. For specialized tasks like installation, we may use trusted subcontractors. All subcontracted work is managed and quality-controlled by SL Woodwork. We are also happy to coordinate with your electrician, plumber, or General Contractor to ensure a seamless process.
What areas do you serve?
We proudly serve Delaware, Ohio, and surrounding areas including Powell, Lewis Center, Dublin, Westerville, and greater Central Ohio.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship and are happy to address concerns within our warranty terms. We offer a limited 1 year warranty on hinges and drawer guides. Drawer pulls, customer provided hardware, and/or lighting elements are not included in our warranty. Please review any separate warranty information from the manufacturer.
