What We Build With — and Why It Matters
At SL Woodwork, we believe quality starts with materials and is perfected through craftsmanship. From the cabinet box to the finish, every component is selected and built with durability, precision, and long-term performance in mind.
Here’s a breakdown of what goes into your custom cabinetry:
Drawer Boxes & Trays
Standard: ⅝" solid maple with dovetail joinery for strength and longevity
Options: Upgraded wood species available upon request
Why it matters: Dovetail construction ensures drawers hold up over time, even with daily use
Cabinet Box Construction
Material: Full ¾" UV-finished maple-veneered plywood
Why it matters: Full 3/4" boxes provide a much sturdier cabinet construction that is built to last
Doors & Paint-Grade Components
Material: High-density fiberboard (HDF), fully edge banded
Why it matters: HDF provides a smooth, consistent surface for paint, while edge banding reduces cracking and ensures a seamless, durable finish
Finishing Process
Coating: Solvent-based 2K polyurethane
Application: Sprayed using a Graco Merkur air-assist airless pump system
Why it matters: This finish offers superior durability, stain resistance, and an ultra-smooth surface.
Features
Leveling: Häfele leveling feet on lower cabinets for perfect plumb and alignment
Soft-Close: All drawers and doors include Blum soft-close hardware as standard
Why it matters: These features not only enhance the user experience but also extend the life of your cabinetry
